Hetero scum

From a graph theory perspective, this study is pretty interesting. Sociologically, maybe less significant (can you really trust these kids to tell the truth?) but one thing that jumps out at me is that amongst this group, having same-sex relations (or at least admitting to them) is almost non-existent: only one male-male and one female-female pairing. Oh well. That's the midwest for you.

Another thing that's a bit strange; the diagram maps "romantic and sexual relationships", but the article seems to be mainly concerned with the spread of STDs. So why not just map the sexual connections?

The article makes a lot of the fact that when forming new relationships, students won't comprehend the network they're connecting themselves to. I'm not entirely sure why they (or I) should care. Though maybe no one will want to be first in the middle of that big elipse.

Hmmm. That looks strangely familiar. I wonder where I've seen something like that before?

Disappointingly planar, this one.

I'm game to help fix that if you are.

The graph also doesn't show any singletons, which is suspicious.
